The 3rd Annual Favorite Things Exchange
Each chair also had a little nosegay of daisies. They were just one of those little "extras" that made the whole affair so special.
This was the cheerful scene that greeted guests as they entered.
Definitely not the first, or the last, time you'll see this chair in one of my pictures. I wonder what color it will be next?
The thank you's were also handmade and coordinated with our invites.
The dessert table was beautiful and easy. With a chocolate fountain as a centerpiece, and tons of dippers, it was the perfect end to our lunch.
Here's the whole lot of them before we started drawing numbers. The gifts were wonderful this year, and you could tell that everyone had put a lot of time and attention into them. There wasn't one that I wouldn't have been happy to receive!
And here's the whole group that was there. Thank you everyone for coming and helping to make our "3rd Annual" event a success!

The Taste of Summer
Tonight as I dug into this short stack of goodness, I really felt like summer had arrived. Now, if only I could have had a long cool drink from this beauty:
I love this beverage dispenser from Z Gallerie. It would be the perfect compliment to a summer garden party.

Love Birds Shower
Little touches all over the room really brought out our color scheme (blue and brown), and made it feel special. There was an "advice tree" for everyone to write a message to the bride, a paper birdie garland (made from the same birds that are hanging on the tree), and lots of birdhouses.
And finally, a special keepsake gift to help her remember the day:
I'm not a quilter, so this was quite a feat for me. My good friend, Carrie, was invaluable in helping and encouraging me through this project.
This shower was held the day before Easter, and I thought it really captured the feeling of spring.
Congratulations sis, and thanks for letting me be a part of this special time!
UPDATE: ANOTHER BIRDY SHOWER
I recently decided to reuse some of this decor when I had to put on a last minute baby shower for a friend of mine. It turned out just as lovely as the first one, so I had to share a few pictures:
The beverage bar, and beautiful buntings (made out of fabric left over from my quilt).
Setting the mood--this theme fit perfectly with my existing decor, so it was simple and tasteful.
This was the backdrop for the food table. Unfortunately, no pics were taken once all the food was arranged.
A few little details. I think it's these type of small touches that really help to carry a theme and make things special.I had so much fun reusing this party theme, and I plan to tuck these things away for the future.
My Outlet
This is that place--my outlet.
I'm an accountant by trade. It's not a glamorous job, but it suites me in many ways--and it pays the bills (or at least, some of them). However, it doesn't give me the outlet that I need for the creative. Accounting just isn't creative. It's about rules, and order, and putting numbers in the right little boxes. And believe it or not, I actually find all that stuff fun. But there's more to me than just the mousy accountant (that is, more than meets the eye). And I like to dream too, and I can dream big dreams I tell ya.
And this is my place to write about those dreams, and show pictures of those dreams, and maybe even occasionally to record when I make one of those dreams come true.
Like I said, this place is for me--me, me, me, me--but if you find anything here that interests you, or that helps you to dream just a bit, then you're welcome to join me here. After all, us blog-lurkers have to stick together.
